Bus Stop-A long "New York Minute"

"In a New York minute", has long been recognized as a description for accomplishing a task in record time—a reflection of the hectic activity witnessed on the streets of New York and in a New York deli. Bus Stop challenges those "truths" by capturing the pace of a West Side bus shelter on a single Sunday night.

The largest fleet of city buses in the world is found in New York City—5,927 in January 2020. Generally, a bus stops every two blocks making the bus trip tedious. The bus system serves routes not covered by the subway system: crosstown and outlying areas.

In Their Own World
As of 2020, New York City bus fare was $2.75 per trip. Bus fare can be paid with a MetroCards or exact change in coins. Drivers do not make change. Paper money is not accepted because transit system workers use giant vacuum hoses to empty coin boxes, which would shred the bills.
