Archeologists found more than mummies in ancient Egyptian tombs. Sitting undisturbed for thousands of years were pots of fresh honey ready to eat. Honey will never spoil when kept in sealed containers and no water added. The long shelf life results from an enzyme in a bee’s stomach, which produces gluconic acid and hydrogen peroxide. The hydrogen peroxide prevents bacterial growth.
Every bee is not a honeybee. There are more than 20,000 different species in the world and only eight that produce honey. None of the honey producers are native to the United States. Bees are vital to the ecosystem as pollinators to insure the growth of trees, flowers, and other plants which provide all creatures with food and shelter. Without bees, the complex interconnected ecosystem would collapse leaving our plates empty.SolitaryDiningNew YorkBeeFlowerGary Rickettsgrickettsgricketts.comPhotography by Gary RickettsFine Art PhotographyManhattaninterior designhttpsphotographybygaryricketts.comUniqueWall Art
